Eric As you know, Cindy and I thought very highly of your parents. Your dad was one of my professors while I was both in dental school and my oral surgery residency. He was a great and big man, and I learned much from him. Your mother was a sweetheart. 2 very special people. My wife Cindy and I enjoyed them. My one son is also a graduate of OWU where he played lacrosse. We still frequently drive by you house on Dublin Granville Rd and think of them! Unlike your parents, we have 5 children and 7 grandchildren and 2 more on the way, and it’s unlikely to end there! Most of those great people who trained me at OSU and made me what I am today are gone and they are missed. Your dad, Bill Wallace, Bernie Snyder, Bob Lauer, my mentor and chair of oral surgery after Bill Wallace (Larry Peterson) and others. BTW, I almost did my oral surgery training at UNC Chapel Hill but chose OSU instead. You mother lived a long life and obviously was a wonderful woman and mother and grandmother. She will be missed. Eric, I saw the Bill Wallace obit. Your note mentioned that your mom had recently. passed. I send my condolence for her death. Your dad was in our wedding party and we for were friends for many years. I remember college years and the Psi O parties. Bill died September 2003, but I attended the 50 year dental class reunion held in Columbus. That was the last time I visited with your mom and dad. You lived at 1083 Sells Ave.West when your dad was back in the oral surgery program. We lived in the same apartment when Bill was in the oral surgery program. Small world. Marilyn and I were Try Delta sorority sisters, different schools. I shall contact Janet Davidson to let her know of the passing. Ed Davidson, good friend , classmate, of Bud and Bill died last February. The old gang is slowly passing on. Jane Ritter

Eric, It would be difficult if not impossible to explain to you and Spalding how sad Peggy and I felt after getting your email. Over the years we had come to cherish our unique relationship with each and all making up the Vance family. Your Dad out walking the dog, Spalding up at the tennis courts, your evolving friendship with Bob and Peggy commingled in time with your family's tragic loss of Anne .... then your father and now the loss of your wonderful, kind and talented Mother: Ms.Marilyn Vance. As you remember Peggy and I got to be with your Mother and so many at her 90th birthday luncheon. We got to visit and chat one more time up in her apartment. Now sadly that has turned out to be the last time we saw or spoke with Marilyn. We will always remember and never forget! - Peggy and Bob O'Connell, neighbors and friends
